Topic Proposals for MLA 2009

Deadline for submitting a topic proposal: September 15, 2008.

As an affiliated society of the MLA, the Edith Wharton Society sponsors two panels at MLA each year. One is on a topic chosen by the EWS president, and the other is chosen from suggestions presented at the business meeting. During the 2006 MLA business meeting of the Edith Wharton Society, the membership voted that the EWS Executive Board would solicit topics both at the business meeting and via the web site.

Any EWS member can propose a topic. The person proposing the topic typically organizes and chairs the session.

The EWS Executive Board will review the proposed topics and choose one for next year's MLA. The call for papers will be announced at this site, in the MLA Newsletter, on the wharton-l listserv, and on Wharton News and Notes.

Edith Wharton Society members wishing to propose a topic should send it by September 15, 2008 to Hildegard Hoeller, hihllr@aim.com, either by e-mail or by using the form below. If you send your topic by e-mail, please include all the information listed below.

To avoid repetition with sessions for previous years, please check the list of topics for recent conferences before proposing your topic.
