2001 Early Tri-State Trial

The early Tri-State trial is a part of the overall Tri-State potato breeding effort between Washington, Idaho and Oregon. The purpose of this trial is to evaluate clones that have been entered into the late season trial under early harvest management and growing conditions. This years trial had 3 controls, Norkotah, Ranger Russet and Russet Burbank, to compare with 9 numbered lines.

With the exception of Norkotah, and PA95A11-14, all of the entries fried light enough to receive a USDA rating of "0". Five of these entries, R. Burbank, A91186-2, A9304-3, A9305-10, A93116-3 and A93157-6LS had average Photovolt readings of 40 or greater, indicating very light-colored fries. A92030-5 and Norkotah were the only entries that produced unacceptable differences in fry color between stem and bud ends.
