Regular Meetings
:

Wednesdays from 3:10 PM to 4:00 PM in CUE 318.
Purpose:
To acquaint new students to potential research projects in mathematical biology through faculty presentation of research projects.  To allow students who have already done mathematical biology research to present their research and receive feedback.

Requirements:

Present progress report of current research project or summarize 3 research projects presented by either students or faculty.

For summaries, each must identify the biological problem and mathematical approaches involved.  Explain as best you can how the combination of mathematics and biology might lead to new insights or solutions to problems posed. We encourage you to discuss the presentation one-on-one with the faculty and/or student presenters and read primary research article(s) related to the topic.  Please post these summaries on the course (directions for doing so will be posted on the website).  At least one summary must be posted prior to Spring Break (March 14), and the rest are due by the last meeting of the class (April 27). We strongly suggest that you complete your summaries soon after the presentations so the material is still fresh in your mind.
Grading:
Students who present a progress report or post their three summaries on time will be given a satisfactory grade for the course.
Students with Disabilities:
Reasonable accommodations are available for students with a documented disability. If you have a disability and may need accommodations to fully participate in this class, please visit the Disability Resource Center (DRC). All accommodations MUST be approved through the DRC (Washington Building, Room 217). Please stop by or call 509-335-3417 to make an appointment with a disability specialist.
Academic Integrity Statement:
Academic dishonesty will not be tolerated in this course. Any student who acts unethically will be given an F for the course and referred to the Office of Student Conduct.  For information, see:
