  • Hardiness: USDA zone 4 .
  • Water use:  Low.   
  • Light:  Full sun.    
  • Size:  3-4" tall with flower stems up to 12"; spread to 12". 
  • Plant habit: Dense clumping herbaceous perennial; deciduous. 
  • Season of bloom:  Mid to late spring. 
  • Culture: Grows best in infertile, well-drained soils.
  • Maintenance:  Plant clumps tend to die in the center over time.  As this happens, the plants should be divided.  Some people may find the old flower stems objectionable.  
  • Pests/Diseases:  Insect- and disease-free.  
  • Other:  May reseed, but not prolifically.
