Plant form

Horizontal, sprawling, herbaceous perennial.  Plants are looser and more sprawling with shade.  Semi-evergreen or deciduous, depending on severity of winter. 

Size

9-12 inches tall, 18-inch spread.

Water use

Low.

Culture and maintenance

Grows best in well-drained, infertile soil.  Plant appearance and life expectancy will be improved by pruning plants back by 1/3 after flowering. Plants will self-sow if spent flower heads are not removed. Insect- and disease-free. 

Light

Full sun to very light shade.

USDA Zone 3.
