The McNair program is an intensive graduate school preparation program that typically takes two years to complete, but can be completed in one full academic year- fall, spring and summer. The progression schedules are as follows:

Requirements
- US Citizen or Permanent Resident
- First generation college student (neither parent/guardian earned a Bachelor's degree) and low income as defined by federal TRiO regulations. For exact figures, please see Annual Low Income Levels.
OR
A member of an underrepresented group in graduate education as defined by federal TRiO regulations: African American, Chicana/o Latina/o, Native American, Native Hawaiian, and other Pacific Islander.
- Enrolled full-time as an undergraduate at WSU-Pullman
- 60 academic credits by Fall 2008
- WSU Cumulative grade-point average of 2.85
- Desire to pursue a doctoral degree (PhD)
