Historical Note

     The WSU Retirees Association (WSURA) was organized in September 1976 to provide opportunities to contact and interact with friends and colleagues in retirement, to provide a means of solving problems of mutual concern, and to represent retired faculty and staff in relations with the University, government agencies, and other groups. In keeping with these objectives, the Association is a part of a larger group of retirees from all the four-year institutions in Washington known as the Coalition of Retired Higher Education Employees (CRHEE). The mission of CRHEE is to represent our interests in Olympia. As a lobbying organization, it is financed by voluntary contributions from the members in each of the associations it represents.

Membership

     Members of WSURA are primarily, but not limited to, retired WSU faculty and staff, and/or their spouses. Others whose interests conform to those of the membership are welcome to join.

     Dues are $5.00 a year for the period from July 1 to June 30. You are encouraged to voluntarily add $3.00 to your dues to support the work of CRHEE. ($8.00 total). Checks should be made payable to the WSU Retirees Association and mailed to the Association c/o Lewis Alumni Centre, Pullman, WA 99164-6150.

     We want you to be a part of the Association even if you don't live in the Pullman area. Nonmembers are most welcome to our meetings, but active membership is required if you wish to attend the annual Spring Brunch. Paid-up members also receive the WSU Retirees Newsletter, which is published three times per year (February, June, and November). Further, if you live in the Pullman vicinity, you will receive post-card notices of our meetings.

     Attend our meetings if you can. The programs are interesting, the fellowship friendly, and there are always refreshments. You might be surprised how much you'll enjoy getting together with friends and colleagues. We look forward to your joining us!
