Title: Modeling Reciprocal Exchange in Southwestern Societies.

Timothy A. Kohler and Lorene Yap

Abstract:

We consider reciprocal exchange as an important means for small-scale farmers to protect themselves from food shortages. Following a brief overview of reciprocal exchange, its generality, and its varieties, we exercise some alternative implementations of reciprocal exchange rules in simulated societies in Southwestern Colorado during Pueblo II and III times, with attention to the repercussions of these alternative implementations for mobility and aggregation.
