Bunchgrass Historian

The Bunchgrass Historian  is a periodical dedicated to the history of Whitman County, Washington. It began publication in 1972 and is published three or four times each year. Most issues are 24 pages in length. Each issue generally carries several features: a mix of recently-written articles, older accounts, and important historical documents, along with personal accounts, reminiscences and oral histories. Copies of all back issues are available. An index for the first ten volumes is also available.


SUBMISSIONS of articles are always welcome. These can include formal historical writing, personal recollections, or edited extracts of older material now available for reprinting.

The main delimiting criteria are that articles (a) have a Whitman County focus, at least in part, and (b) are not overly technical. Articles can be submitted in typescript, longhand, or on computer diskette. FAX transmission can be made by prior arrangement. Accompanying photographs are appreciated; these can be in the form of color copier prints if the author does not wish to send original historical prints.
