1. Editing and publishing a minimum of three issues
of the newsletter on an annual basis. (September 15, December 1, February 15 are
approximate dates).
2. Maintaining close communications with all
members of the advisory board to encourage and solicit information and articles for each
issue.
3. Maintaining close communication with the NASPA
national office to provide timely information for members.
4. Serving as a member or the region V advisory
board. This includes:
- Participating in the 1997 and 1998 summer advisory
board retreats. The first is set for June 22-24, 1997 at the Alexis Park Hotel in Las
Vegas, Nevada.
- Participating in the 1997 and 1998 fall advisory
board meetings held just prior to the start of the western regional conference. The first
is set for November 6, 1997 in Las Vegas.
- Setting and submitting annual goals and summary
evaluative reports.
- Providing goals updates in writing (electronic, fax
or snail mail) on a periodic basis; a schedule will be established to coincide with the
national advisory board update deadlines and meetings.
The newsletter editor is appointed by the regional
vice president for a period not to exceed the term of office of that vice president.
Loren Hajduk is the Director for the Office
of Student Life at Lewis-Clark State College (LCSC) in Lewiston, Idaho. Loren has been
with LCSC since November of 1996. He was the Coordinator of Advising and Disability
Services and served as the acting Director of the Office of Student Life until December of
1997 when he was selected as the Director. Prior to that Loren had worked for the Port of
Hope office in Lewiston. He was their Clinical Director for eighteen months. Loren had
been doing work in the alcohol and other drug field for nearly twenty years. Two recent
positions where Loren had worked on U. S. Department of Education FIPSE grants had been at
Peninsula College in Port Angeles, WA. and Walla Walla Community Colleges main
campus in Walla Walla, WA. Loren retired from the United States Marine Corps in 1983.
Loren had joined the Corps as a private in 1963 and retired as a Captain in 1983. Most of
his time in the Corps was spent as an air traffic controller. He also managed to complete
a bachelor degree with a major in psychology and a master degree in Guidance and
Counseling during his time in the Corps. Hes lived all over the United States and
several Southeast Asian countries. He is currently married to Jane and they have two
little girls. Loren has five other children from a previous marriage. He also has three
grandchildren. His favorite pastimes are fishing for the elusive steelhead and doing
anything his little daughters want him to do.
