Washington State University received more than $515 million in revenue during fiscal 1995-96 from a range of public and private sources. Less than half of the university’s support came from legislative appropriations during fiscal 1995-96, the balance coming from student tuition and fees, federal grants and contracts, and other sources such as housing and dining revenue, private gifts and endowment income.
