Alpha Phi Sorority Plans Annual Alphatraz Philanthropy at WSU

PULLMAN, Wash. -- The Alpha Phi sorority at Washington State University is sponsoring its fifth annual "Alphatraz" philanthropy on Sunday, April 8, to benefit the Alpha Phi Foundation. The event will be held from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. at the chapter house on College Hill.

Sorority members have asked local businesses for support and potential "prisoners" in the Pullman community. Upon arriving at Alpha Phi, the prisoners will be booked by sorority members and given a cell phone to call their friends and family to bail them out. The bail is set for $30. All proceeds go to the Alpha Phi Foundation.

Sorority members and the prisoners will participate in several activities throughout the day, including karaoke and hot tubbing. Z-Fun 106.1 also will broadcast live from Alpha Phi.

The Alpha Phi Foundation awards more than $250,000 every two years to support a number of charities, projects and programs throughout the United States and Canada. Those helped by the foundation include Cardiac Care, the Forget-Me-Not emergency grant foundation and Alpha Phi educational programs. In addition, the foundation provides scholarships to Alpha Phi undergraduate and graduate members.

For more information, contact Jessie Kane, vice president of marketing, 509/333-5496, or Erin Easling, philanthropy chair, 509/333-5412.
