Duties
|
President
|
- Organize and participate in AFW Officers’ meetings and
attend AFW meetings.
- Run business meetings.
- Introduce most member meetings.
- Distribute initial formal contact of new members (via
e-mail).
- Handle correspondence (thank you notes, e-mails), phone
calls, emails, etc.
- Form AFW committees (Graduate Student Awards Selection
Committee, Graduate Student Awards Presentation Committee, Sam Smith
Leadership Award Committee, and others).
- Arrange for AFW representation on the Commission on the
Status of Women, nominations committee for the Woman of the Year and
Woman of Distinction Awards, and others, as needed.
- Organize (and staff) booths for the new faculty
orientation fair and diversity celebration.

President-elect
|
- Chair the AFW Nominations Committee and serve on other
committees, if needed.
- Serve as President the following year.
- Attend and participate in AFW Officers’ meetings and AFW
meetings.

Secretary
|
- Send out the meeting notices (email to members and to WSU
Today, WSU announcements, etc., and snail mails to some members who
preferred that to email notices).
- Send a couple of rounds of emails to previous AFW members
about renewals.
- Update the list-serve roster whenever the treasurer gets
a new member(s).
- Make up name badges and handle box.
- Send out the roster to the membership early in Fall
semester.
- Select appropriate tentative dates for the annual program
for the coming year to distribute at the first meeting of the academic
year.
- Attend and participate in AFW Officers’ meetings and AFW
meetings.

Treasurer
|
- Accept members' dues and payments for each meeting.
- Prepare and update the list of members.
- Compile the list of attendees for the President's
reception.
- Accept and acknowledge RSVPs from members.
- Contact Local Arrangements representatives with number
and names of people attending each meeting.
- Pay bills (to caterer, local arrangements for supplies,
etc.).
- Take money to bank each month; renew CDs.
- Prepare the treasurer's report (year-end, or more often
if needed).
- Attend and participate in AFW Officers’ meetings and AFW
meetings.

Program chair
|
- Book final dates and locations for monthly meetings
(including arranging for volunteer’s homes).
- Make speaker contacts/confirmation.
- Arrange for AV equipment needs.
- Chair the program portion of most meetings.
- Attend and participate in AFW Officers’ meetings and AFW
meetings.

Local arrangements -

NOTE: This
job requires showing up early and leaving late (meaning last) for every
monthly meeting.
- Purchase appropriate quantity of beverages of suitable
variety, cups, napkins, etc.
- Bring the above to and from meetings.
- Obtain a banquet permit (“liquor license”) from the State
liquor store, if necessary.
- Caterer arrangements - collect head count, choose menu (remember vegetarian options),
submit order. Confirm delivery time/location. Meet caterer at venue
(usually ~30 min. prior to start of meeting) or pick up food from the caterer and bring it to the meeting site.
- Set up food & beverages, utensils, etc. at meeting
site.
- Clean up after meeting - discard/recycle empties, collect
& bag garbage, wipe down tables, etc. In the Alumni Center,
we are responsible for hauling all garbage out to the dumpster.
- Arrange for and work with monthly meeting helpers.
- Make sure meals run smoothly
- Attend and participate in AFW Officers’ meetings and AFW
meetings.

Web wizard
|
- Keep the web site content current.
- Update calendar information shortly after each meeting.
- Find and post information of potential interest to members.
- Update officer information yearly.
- Update Awards pages shortly after each award program.
- Be sure that the web site had a pleasing appearance and
functions efficiently (to users using the common browsers at least).
- Attend and participate in AFW Officers’ meetings and AFW
meetings.

Liaison to the Provost
|
- Arrange for regular meetings with the Provost to discuss
and promote issues of importance to AFW.
- Attend and participate in AFW Officers’ meetings and AFW
meetings.
