McGinnis Lake, Okanogan County, Washington

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

McGinnis Lake is eight miles north of Coulee Dam in Okanogan County in the Columbia River Terraces watershed. The lake is surrounded by rolling hills vegetated by bunchgrass and sagebrush and some stands of ponderosa pines and aspen. There are some basalt outcroppings along the shore. The lake has an intermittent inlet on the east and no surface outlet. Macrophytes found include Chara sp., Potamogeton zosteriformis, Potamogeton amplifolius, Potamogeton praelongus, Potamogeton richardsonii, Elodea canadensis, Ceratophyllum demersum, and Eleocharis acicularis. A turf of the tiny spikerush Eleocharis acicularis extended from the water level up to about 0.5 m above the water level in many places along the shoreline
