Assistant Extension Professor (Dairy Products Manufacturing)

The Department of Animal Science at the University of Connecticut is soliciting applications for the position of Assistant Extension Professor in Dairy Products Manufacturing. This is a full time, 11-month, non-tenure track position subject to annual renewals. The applicant must have Ph.D. degree in dairy products manufacturing, food science with an emphasis on dairy products technology, or similar program. This position is responsible for the extension and teaching activities, and operations, of the UConn Department of Animal Science Creamery (manufacturing) and Dairy Bar (sales) Teaching and Research Laboratory. Hands-on experience working in a dairy processing facility, particularly in the formulation and processing of ice cream, cheese and yogurt, is preferred. Teaching or extension education experience is preferred. The applicant must be qualified to obtain a State of Connecticut milk pasteurizer's license. In addition to conducting extension programs, teaching undergraduate dairy manufacturing classes, and operation of the dairy manufacturing and sales, the candidate will also be expected to cooperate with other department faculty members in undergraduate and graduate education, advising, and recruitment programs and perform outreach activities supporting the mission of the department and college. Salary is commensurate with background and experience.


The Department of Animal Science offers A.A.S., B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees and comprises 15 faculty members with research interests in physiology, molecular genetics, nutrition, domestic animal management, and food science.
