Committees

 

University Affairs Committee

  1. Get involved with faculty senate (Determine level of involvement).
  2. Contact Provost and set up meeting to discuss issues important to retired faculty.
  3. Maintain ongoing contact with Provost on these and other issues.
  4. Develop ideas for supporting the Emeritus Society.
  5. Develop strategy to help university community by sharing members’ expertise.
  6. Explore possible collaborative activities with International programs.
  7. Mentoring.
  8. Develop procedures and subcommittee for the Emeritus Society to take responsibility for the FASR (Faculty Association for Scholarship and Research) undergraduate research and scholarship awards program for implementation next fall.

Community Affairs Committee

  1. Research community resources to provide information to members and retiring faculty.
  2. Develop a panel for community resources
  3. Research volunteer opportunities
  4. Schedule meeting w/John Sherman and Glen Johnson to discuss how the Emeritus Society could contribute to the city’s efforts to support retired people in Pullman.
  5. Develop a speaker’s bureau (visiting speakers or retiree speakers?

Collegial Support Committee

  1. Encourage departments to establish formal policies related to the role of emeritus faculty (graduate committees, departmental committees, office and laboratory space use after retirement).
  2. Investigate Retaining name in WSU directory as long as there is a continued affiliation with WSU
  3. Investigate policy on retiree’s ability to take classes under the current staff/faculty policy.
