Emeritus Society

Welcome!

The major function of the Society is to enhance the relationship between the University and its emeritus faculty for the benefit of Washington State University’s land grant mission and for the greater welfare of its emeriti. The Society serves as a point of contact between the University and its retired faculty, coordinates the delivery of services to the retired faculty, and provides opportunities for retired faculty to continue their scholarship and service at the University.

Membership

Membership in the Washington State University Emeritus Society is open to all faculty (as defined by the faculty manual and including clinical faculty) who have retired from employment at the University and wish to maintain an active relationship with the University. We hope you will join us in this important new endeavor by becoming a member of the Society.

Legacy of Excellence Award

The Emeritus Society Legacy of Excellence Award is given to an outstanding emeritus who contributions to academia, the University, the community and mankind while in retirement. Emeritus Society Legacy of Excellence Award 2008

Walter R. Butcher

Agricultural Economics (1997)

Professor Emeritus of Agricultural Economics at Washington State University; Independent consultant and advisor in agricultural development and natural resource management.

Dr. Butcher served on the faculty at Washington State University (WSU) from 1964 to 1997 and remains active in retirement in advising graduate students and participating in environmental and international research projects.
