| Benefits of Outlook / Exchange |
This change will have an impact on you both personally and how your office or workgroup may conduct business. Some of the features and benefits you can expect to see when we have moved to the new service are:
- You will see an identical view of your mail, calendar and folders from multiple machines (home/office/traveling)
- Ability to use a Web Browser and Outlook Web Access to view your mail, calendar information and shared documents from home or when traveling
- High Availability – no scheduled down-time for those traveling to other time zones
- Access from PDA’s, Smart Phones, and other wireless devices
- Calendaring and Scheduling will be available to all Faculty, Staff, Graduate and Professional Students– you will have the ability to easily schedule meetings with everyone
- Secured Access from all clients, even from a Web client
- Efficient use of low-bandwidth connections (dial-up)
- Improved productivity and collaboration via forms-based templates, shared folders
- Coordination between all Exchange servers at WSU to allow ability to schedule across colleges and campuses (including students)
- More collaboration tools will be coming in future phases
However, it is important that people understand the need for continued improvement in network and computing security measures. |
| Security Awareness is of Paramount Importance |
- Need for everyone to maintain a high-level of vigilance on security matters
- We will have firewalls in place to help keep systems secure
- Newer anti-virus software will help block attacks – everyone will need to move to latest version of software and keep definitions up-to-date
