Joining a Social Greek Chapter at WSU

Academic Excellence

Academic excellence is one of the fundamental principles of fraternity and sorority life. Students in the Greek community take pride in their scholastic efforts, which are supported and developed through numerous programs and services offered by the fraternities and sororities of WSU.

With the experiences of upperclassmen and their academic advisors, Greeks are able to obtain personal guidance in planning a curriculum, choosing classes and instructors, and receiving assistance with registration. Efficient study habits are encouraged through established study sessions, educational programs, study partners, and teams. Greeks are also recognized for their academic success through Greek scholarship awards, chapter incentives, scholarships, and Greek honor societies like Order of Omega.

The Interfraternity and Panhellenic Councils have different grade requirements for membership. For women, if your high school GPA or college GPA is below a 3.0, many sororities will release you from the recruitment process. We recommend you have at least a 2.8 cumulative high school GPA or a 2.5 cumulative college GPA for recruitment participation. For men, most fraternities require a 2.5 to become a fully initiated member.

Men and women going through Recruitment in August wil be asked to mail or fax a copy of their final report card (not a transcript, just the final statement of grades) that clearly shows their semester and cumulative GPA's to our office. The Office of Admissions will not send transcripts to our office. Please make sure your name is readable on the copy and include your WSU student id number if you know it.
