Control of Emergency Situations

POLICY
University safety directors may take preventive, investigative,
and remedial actions when required by emergency situations.
University safety directors may also take such actions when required by
codes, regulations, licenses, contracts, or agreements.
Halt Activities
A safety director or her or his representative may immediately
halt or otherwise control any practice or condition that results in a reasonable
possibility of death or serious physical harm to an individual.
Termination
The safety director determines when the emergency situation
no longer exists.
Areas of Responsibility
Each safety director is authorized to take such actions within
his or her area of responsibility.
University safety directors include:
- Director of Public Safety
- Director of Environmental Health and Safety
- Director of Radiation Safety
