POLICY

All University departments must provide first aid kits in University work places. First aid supplies are available from Central Stores. See S20.30 for first aid training requirements.

Workplace

A workplace is defined as an establishment, job site, or project, at one geographical location containing one or more work areas. (WAC 296-62-05405)

Responsible Employee

The safety committee and/or administrator designates an employee to maintain and stock the department's first aid kits.

Accessible

First aid kits shall be readily visible and accessible.

On Vehicles

In the absence of readily accessible first aid supplies in a fixed location, all crew vehicles, power shovels, cranes, loaders, dozers, back hoes, speeders, freight trucks and similar equipment shall be equipped with not less than a ten-package first aid kit. When more than five employees are being transported in crew vehicle on any one trip, the kit shall be increased to comply with a 16, 24, or 36-package kit depending upon the number of personnel being transported.
