Emergencies in Regulated Areas

IMMEDIATE ACTION
Remove protective clothing. Evacuate the area.

Call 911.

If there is worker contact with a chemical carcinogen, require the individual to shower as soon as possible, unless a shower would exacubate physical injuries.
RESUMPTION OF ACTIVITY
Eliminate hazardous conditions created by the emergency and decontaminate the affected area prior to the resumption of normal operations.
Medical Surveillance
Institute special medical surveillance by a physician within 24 hours for individuals present in the affected area at the time of the emergency.
Incident Report
File an incident report on the emergency, S80.75.

Include a report of any medical surveillance in the incident report, S80.75.
