Nine selected to receive Alumni Achievement Award The Graduate School is presenting nine Alumni Achievement Awards, each representing a different college, on April 16 in Kimbrough Hall, commemorating 100 years of graduate education. Here are the winners: • College of Agriculture and Home Economics — Joseph Jwu-Shan Jen, M.S. 1964, food science. U.S. Under Secretary for Research, education, and economics; oversees four agencies of the USDA Research Service. • College of Business and Economics — Gary Brinson, M.B.A. 1968. Founder and retired chair of Brinson Partners, Inc., a nationally recognized authority on global investing. • College of Education — Herbert M. Berg, Ed.D. 1981, education. Executive director for the Association for the Advancement of International Education. • College of Engineering and Architecture — Ed Schweitzer, Ph.D. 1977, electrical engineering. Founder of Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories. • College of Liberal Arts — Michael Holloman, M.F.A. 1993. Associate professor of fine arts, Seattle University. • College of Pharmacy — Gary E. Isom, Ph.D. 1973, pharmacology/toxicology. Vice president for research, dean of the Graduate School, professor of toxicology at Purdue University. • College of Sciences — Gordon Hager, Ph.D. 1973, chemical physics (now materials science). Technical advisor at Kirtland Air Force Base, New Mexico. • Intercollegiate College of Nursing — Janice M. Linehan, M.N. 1999. Family nurse practitioner. • College of Veterinary Medicine — Travis C. McGuire, Ph.D. 1968, veterinary pathology. Professor in the veterinary microbiology and pathology department at WSU.
