The state House of Representatives, in a 50-44 vote, approved an amended operating budget at 4:30 a.m. Saturday morning, bringing the Legislature to a near end. This proposed budget will be presented to the Senate this afternoon for its approval. From there, the budget would be forwarded to the Governor for his signature.

Meanwhile, the House is still debating the state's capital budget. The upcoming printed issue of WSU Week -- due out in approximately one week -- will include additional details and insights on how the new  2001-03 budget will be distributed at WSU.
