New horizons, Big Sky
WSU loses Radziemski, Rimpau

Leon RadziemskiLooking for the challenge and excitement of embarking on a third career, Leon Radziemski, dean of the College of Sciences, has decided to leave WSU for a position with Research Corporation, a nonprofit foundation. Radziemski discovered Research, which funds scientists and science programs, two years ago while on sabbatical. He spent his sabbatical conducting a survey and interpreting the data for the organization. Doug Baker, vice provost for academic affairs, said Radziemski was effective and successful, "a leader among deans."

Saying that it took "a very positive offer to get me to even think about leaving here," Jim Rimpau, associate vice president of Enrollment Services, has resigned from WSU, after 12 years, to accept an offer in research analysis at Montana State University. Rimpau insists that he loves WSU and the community and that his decision was a tough one. A research expert, Rimpau was instrumental in getting WSU in a position to market itself and in recruiting an ethnically diverse student body. Fran Hermanson, director of Student Affairs Research, says Rimpau will leave a legacy at WSU. She describes his professional performance as "flawless."

Radziemski plans to leave on July 31, and Rimpau will depart May 15.
