New WSU Parking Rates

Pullman, Washington - WSU Parking and Transportation Services will be moving forward with approved new parking rates for fall 2008. In March 2004, the Board of Regents granted authority to raise permit rates up to the Consumer Price Index (CPI), and hourly rates by $.05 per hour.

The new parking rates were reviewed by the University Parking and Transportation Task Force in January 2008 and have been approved by the President. The new rates will be in effect for the 2008/2009 school year.

The 15-member task force was established in fall 2001. The Task Force provides an open review process, available to all campus groups, to deal with issues relating to parking and transportation. Follow this link to learn more about the Task Force.

The benchmark 2007 Consumer Price Index for the region is 3.2%, and the new rates include this inflationary increase in annual and daily parking rates beginning in the fall of 2008.

Parking meter rates and evening and weekend garage rates remain the same. Increases in annual permit rates vary for different color classifications. Annual permits purchased mostly by students, such as Yellow, Gray, and Blue permits, are typically lower in price.

Also under this new rate structure, garage rates increase from $1.80 per hour to $1.85 per hour in the 2008-2009 fiscal year, and the maximum daily garage rate increases from $13 to $14.

The Online Parking Permit Renewal process is expected to begin on March 25, 2008.
