Transit
Fee Information
In
spring 2003, WSU students passed a $15 per semester mandatory
transit fee that could be used for the purpose of funding Pullman
Transit, instituting an on-campus shuttle system, and
other transportation
initiatives.
|
|
Students
rely on transit. Pullman Transit gives over 1 million rides
per year and most of those riders (85%) are WSU students! |
|
|
Students
need to simply show their CougarCard to ride the bus! |
|
|
Pullman
Transit operates Monday through Saturday during the academic
year. |
|
|
Recently,
a Late Night Shuttle to Pullman establishments has been added
on a trial basis. |
|
|
The
Wheatland Express offers Monday through Friday service to
Moscow, Idaho. |

Benefits
of the Transit Fee:
|
|
Implementation of a campus shuttle. |
|
|
Improved
transit access to and from the Student Recreation Center
and other on-campus destinations. |
|
|
Improved
nightly transit service. |
|
|
Improved
service on the busiest student routes. |
|
|
May facilitate additional savings for students in the way
of vehicle and gas expenses. |
|
|
Transit use remains seamless by simply showing a CougarCard.
This encourages maximum ridership on the transit system
and reduces congestion on campus roadways. |
|
|
Transit revenue becomes more stable and predictable, facilitating
long-term transit planning. |
The Transit Fee is administered by Parking and Transportation
Services with oversight from the Transit Advisory Group (TAG).
TAG is a sub-group of the University Parking and Transportation
Task Force. TAG members include a student representative from
the Associated
Students of Washington State University (ASWSU), a representative
from the Graduate
and Professional Student Association (GPSA), a representative
from the Residence
Hall Association (RHA), a representative from Greek
Life, and a representative from commuter students.
TAG responsibilities include reviewing the effectiveness of
current transit services, reviewing proposed changes or additions
to future transit services, reviewing financial plans that support
transit services, developing proposals related to transit service
and other transportation-related programs, forwarding proposals
to various constituency and stakeholder groups to solicit and
evaluate feedback, and providing input regarding service levels
for transit contract negotiations.
