These are the rules prior to January 1, 2010

Please refer to the following HRS site for rules as of January 1, 2010:

http://hrs.wsu.edu/temporary%20employee%20benefits

The monitoring of hours for non-student employees began January 1999 for state health benefits. The monitoring criteria states:

"A non-student employee must work six (6) consecutive months at half-time or greater."

Listed below are suggested procedures to assist you in the monitoring of hours for non-student employees:

  1. Go to HEPPS Inquiry and log into QPREXP
  2. Key in the non-student employee’s SSN and "search from" date.
  3. To display hours worked since January 1999, enter 010199 in "search from" area.
  4. Record the number of hours worked per pay cycle on the appropriate worksheet below.
  5. Compare the actual monthly hours worked to the monthly total half-time hours which represents the minimum hours worked in order to be eligible for medical coverage.
  6. Determine if the employee has six (6) consecutive months of half-time or more.
