Payroll System Changes

Changes to the Payroll System for the December 2013 RG2 pay cycle:
1.

Implement Health Savings Account Payroll Deduction

Established GTN 017 for employees with 12.0 month appointment term and GTN 117 for employees with appointment terms between 9.0 and less than 12.0 for this deduction.  Deduction is not subject to any employment taxes and employees must be enrolled in high-end medical plans that allow health savings accounts. Fifty (50) employees elected to participate. 
2.

Illinois State income Taxes

Established GTN 057 for state income taxes for two (2) individuals working at Argonne Lab.

 

3.

New Federal Income Tax Tables

The Internal Revenue Service has issued new federal income tax tables for wages paid after December 31, 2013. The new federal withholding tables will be reflected on the January 10, 2014 paycheck.

 

4.

New Medical Premium Rates

Even though this pay cycle is for the period December 16-31, 2013 the medical premiums for the January 10th check is for January coverage. Therefore, the new rates are in effect now. To view your current medical and dental carrier, go to the Employee Benefits section within WEBPBS at http://www.wsu.edu/webpbs.  The new fair market value has been installed for the insurance premiums of domestic partners medical insurance.

5.

Medical Flexible Savings Accounts

666 employees who took the opportunity during Open Enrollment to sign up for medical flexible savings accounts will see their reductions reflected in this paycheck. Contributions to medical flexible accounts are not subject to federal income taxes, social security or medicare tax.

 

6.

Dependent Care

Enrollments for 107 employees have been processed this payroll for new or renewed enrollments in Dependent Care (GTN 010).

 

7.

Fall Work Study Limits

Fall work study limits and balances will be removed after this payroll calculation so that Spring amounts can be applied.
