Are Your Savings Bonds Still Earning Interest?

Many bonds issued before 1970 have reached "final maturity," which means they're not earning interest anymore. If you have any older savings bonds, you should check the series and issue dates against the chart below. You never know what buried treasures you might find.

SERIES  ISSUE DATE
E May 1941 through Current Month 1960
And
December 1965 through Current Month 1970
H June 1952 through Current Month 1970
HH January 1980 through Current Month 1980
SAVINGS NOTES May 1967 through Current Month 1970
A, B, C, D, F, G, J, & K All Issues

If your savings bonds have stopped earning interest, you should cash them in at your local financial institution, or exchange them for Series HH bonds if they're eligible. Series HH bonds pay interest by direct deposit every six months. Don't wait any longer--put your money back to work and watch your savings grow!
