How Pay Periods Are Defined

All state officers and employees will be paid semi-monthly and not later than ten (10) days after the pay period in which wages are earned except that if payday falls on a Sunday, they may be paid the following Monday (RCW 42.16.010).

Payday is normally the 10th and the 25th of the month. Pay periods are "lagged", meaning the period worked or earned is not paid until ten (10) days later.

The pay periods are as follows:

DAY CYCLE PAYDAY
1 - 15 RG1 25th of current month
16 - 31 RG2 10th of next month
