Hot and Cold Cognition in Decision Making
My research examines relations between hot (affective/emotional) and cold (rational/calculational) cognitive processes in decision making. I am primarily interested in how situational constraints (task demands or complexity) and individual constraints (personality traits or biological differences) affect hot and cold cognition and thereby lead to suboptimal decision making.
My research is part of an interdisciplinary research group examining decision making, affect and memory. Our group is currently focused on studies of sleep, examining how sleep restriction affects cognition, in general, and decision making, in particular.
