Summary:
The first line of research in my lab involves the role of disgust in anxiety disorders, particularly in specific phobia. We are examining 1) whether disgust plays a significant role in phobia; 2) whether exposure techniques aimed at reducing disgust improve traditional exposure-based treatments solely targeting fear; and 3) whether sensitivity to disgust elicitation and sensitivity to fear elicitation are associated with treatment effectiveness. The second line of my research is to develop online treatment programs for PTSD. We are currently developing an online cognitive-behavior intervention program for victims of sexual abuse.
