Students to delve deeply into Chinese language, culture.
Two Washington State University students recently were selected to each receive a $20,000 scholarship to study in China.
Jared Downing and Luke Mohr will receive National Security Education Program (NSEP) David L. Boren Undergraduate Scholarships. The scholarships are intended to provide support to U.S. undergraduates who pursue the study of languages and cultures currently underrepresented in study abroad and that are critical to U.S. national security.
A third WSU student, Alison Leach, was selected as an alternate for the program.

Downing graduated in 2004 from A.J. Dimond High School in Anchorage, Alaska, and expects to graduate from WSU with a bachelor’s degree in political science in May 2009.
