Freshmen drive spring enrollment to higher levels.

Spring semester enrollment at Washington State University's four campuses is up 4.8 percent from a year ago-to a total of 22,741 students.
The growth is driven by the influx of freshman students in the fall. The Pullman campus enrolled the largest freshman class in the University's history last August, while the WSU Vancouver campus enrolled its second class of freshmen and WSU Tri-Cities enrolled its first freshmen.
On the Pullman campus, the spring enrollment of graduate students is also up from 2007, growing 5.4 percent to 1,848 students.
All campuses also reported increases in the percentages of students of color compared to last spring. Pullman is at 14.9 percent, Spokane 15.1 percent, Tri-Cities 14.1 percent, and Vancouver 11 percent.
Spring semester headcount enrollment by campus
Pullman 17,488
