Tuition Rates Explained

The tuition amount at WSU is composed of the State definition of tuition (an Operating Fee plus building costs) and WSU student approved Student Service and Activity fees. When a student is granted a fee waiver, that waiver is generally for the State mandated portion of the tuition only and does not cover the WSU charges incorporated within the tuition figure. This is important to remember for a graduate student getting a waiver because of employment at WSU. They will always have a portion of the tuition to pay even if they are granted a tuition waiver.

The tuition rates are different for residents of the State and non-residents of the State. The State subsidizes the resident student tuition but does not subsidize the non-resident. For fee paying purposes, a full time student is a student who takes from 10 credits through 18 credits in a semester. Part time tuition fees are approximately 10% of the semester total per credit hour with a minimum of two hours charged.
