Virtual Private Network
A NEW (faster) method to connect to the wireless network on the WSU Pullman Campus Wireless is available:
The SSID named 'WSU Wireless' has been configured on the wireless network located on the campus of WSU Pullman. Unlike the wireless 'wsunexus' SSID that requires the use of a VPN client,, the 'WSU Wireless' SSID will allow users to connect to the WSU Pullman campus wireless network securely without using a VPN client.
If you are a Pullman campus wireless user and want to accessthe 'WSU Wireless' network (without a VPN client), please view the page:
http://www.wsu.edu/wireless/wireless.html
We recommend everyone move OFF the wireless VPN client and onto the WSU Wireless network.
Valid User ID Required
You must have either a valid WSU Network ID or Friend ID to use the VPN Client to connect to the WSU campus network. Call 509-335-4357 (HELP) for more about user ID's.
Wireless Network Requiring a VPN Client ('wsunexus' )
The 'wsunexus' wireless network requires that a Virtual Private Network (VPN) client be configured on your device. VPN also facilitates off campus user access to IP restricted services.
WSU Pullman supports Point to Point Tunneling Protocol (PPTP) VPN clients in the latest versions of the Microsoft Windows, Mac and Linux operating systems. Support is also provided for the IP/Sec VPN Cisco client.
Choosing PPTP or IP/Sec VPN Client
PPTP Clients are the easiest to configure, they support PDAs. They are a good choice for most WSU users and the best choice for accessing WSU Library resources (via wireless or from off campus). The Cisco IP/Sec Client provides additional security through the use of a certificate. Both protocols support 128-bit data encryption. More VPN Info
