Boeing Pilot Project Seminar

On Monday April 14th, from 5 to 7 pm, Boeing Awardes
(Attendance List) met to share their
perspectives and plans for their Boeing Pilot Projects. These awards
were designed to support the curricular transformation associated
with a learning paradigm, (Barr & Tagg,
1996) based on the use of advanced educational technologies.
Several presentations were made and the following exhibits were
shared:

should serve as a sort of archive.
Although not a part of VWSU or the Boeing Project, the Center for
Teaching and Learning is hosting two "Learning Forums" of interest.
CENTER FOR TEACHING AND LEARNING FORUMS
Thursday, April 24: "Multimedia Meets Reality." CUB 112-113,
12-1 p.m. Prof. Virginia Lohr, Horticulture and Landscape
Architecture, Prof. Cecelia Buchanan, EE/CS, and Dr. Gary
Brown, Center for Teaching and Learning. An open discussion
on making, using, and assessing CD-ROMs in the
classroom.
Tuesday, April 29: "Improving Teaching by Using Written
Comments on Student Evaluations" Fine Arts Auditorium,
12:10-1 p.m. Prof. Mary Wack, Center for Teaching and
Learning. Course evaluation time is upon us again, and it's
not too soon to begin thinking about ways student
evaluations can be used to improve courses the next time
they're offered. Open-ended questions offer the most useful
feedback for improvement, but if the class is larger than 20
or 25 students, interpreting the data accurately can be a
problem. This forum presents the "grid method" for getting
the most out of the comments students write on open-ended
course evaluation questions.
