THE AGE OF WORMS

Welcome to the Moscow Gaming Group's Age of Worms blog.

WHO WE ARE
Our gaming group has been together for at least 10 years now. Members come and go, as is often the case with gaming groups, but we have managed to keep five to ten of us together and gaming over the past decade. We have an even split between males and females in our group and our ages range from early twenties up to forty. We operate out of Moscow, Idaho with members usually being students from two local universities (UI and WSU - just for the record, I'm a Coug!). Our group delves into a fair number of games; Magic and online games, like Everquest and Worlds of Warcraft, fill in nicely between game session, but Dungeons and Dragons has been our primary focus. We often take turns running campaigns and have visited a number of worlds; DarkSun, Planescape, Greyhawk, Forgotten Realms and just recently, Dragonlance.

A number of us have played the game since its first edition in the mid-1970's. We have spent most of our time together playing 2nd edition rules, which was introduced in the mid to late 1980's. When 3rd edition came out, we were fairly slow to hop on board (some of us older folks were still getting 1st and 2nd edition mixed up, going to 3rd edition was bound to be disastrous). But when we finally bit the bullet and bought the books, we were thrilled! The peeps from WoTC had really outdone themselves and put together a solid and adaptable rule set. It was so cool to see so many of the fun "house rules" that were invented and shared by so many in the 1970's and '80's get worked into this edition. The rules were easy and made sense.

WHAT WE ARE UP TO
The Age of Worms is only our second campaign using 3rd edition rules, but our group had been struggling to work together as a team in our last campaign and we were taking for-freakin-ever to finish anything. To help solve this, I came up with the idea of setting a time limit on each encounter and offering extra rewards for completing them on time. We'll let you know as we get further into AoW if it is helping our teamwork, but for now if you want to know how we are doing this click here for a more detailed explanation of our timed-event rules.

THE BLOG
The players write their own blog of the adventure. I only help out now and then with a few editing points. Follow along by clicking the links to the right....and check back often! We'll post new blogs as soon as we finish each adventure. Thanks for stopping by!
