How long are the showings?
What do you typically screen at showings?
Do you have to pay to attend the showings?
What are the dues for and benefits of being a club member?
I have a question not listed here...
A. The WSU Anime Club was "officialy" founded in 1996 by Trevor Menagh, Brian Papp, and Andy Nix. Putting aside university support it has been around since 1988. We even posess one of our advertisements from 1990.
Before 1996 it was one of those "let's raid a random room over the weekend and show stuff" kind of deals.
A. Our weekly Saturday and Wednesday showings are held in Todd Hall Room 230. Our 12 hour showings, held during one Saturday of each month, are normally in Todd Auditorium.
A. Usually four hours (7 PM - 11 PM) on Saturdays, and three hours (7 PM - 10 PM) on
Wednesdays. However, during the second Saturday of each month, we hold a twelve-hour session
(noon - midnight). This has held true for as long as we can remember.
A. Each semester we screen 4-5 different complete series, ranging from many different genres.
Typically on Japanese television show lengths are multiples of 13, with 13 and 26 being the most
common. We attempt to show the latest or lesser-known shows; three 26-episode series and two
13-episode series are how it usually works out. This applies for the Saturday showings, with the
exception of the monthly 12-hour showings; for those, we put aside the weekly showings and show
a variety of one-shot shows or films such as Akira and Spriggan.
A. Saturday showings are free for anyone, members and non-members, however Wednesday showings are for members only.
A. Dues are seven dollars ($7.00) per semester, which we feel is a reasonable rate. Being a club
member entitles you to the following benefits:
Additionally, becoming a member will allow the club to acquire more materials for your
viewing pleasure, as well as potentially allow us to stage other events. To pay dues, ask for
our treasurer during breaks between shows.
