Internship Opportunity with the Alaska Business Development Center

VTLP is a statewide program that provides tax services within three functions including the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, Low Income Taxpayer Clinic (LITC) and the Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) program. During 2009, VTLP assisted a total of 6,608 people in 94 communities in 11 regions of Alaska including the Aleutians, Bering Strait, Bristol Bay, Interior, Kodiak, North Slope, Northwest Arctic, Pribilofs, Southeast, Western and Yukon Delta. The program saved approximately $624,396 in tax preparation fees and generated $3,674,809 in tax refunds and $1,280,286 in the Earned Income Tax Credit for rural residents. The 2010 Volunteer Tax and Loan Program invites students who are interested to join them. The program will cover expenses associated with students' travel from Anchorage to rural communities, accommodation in Anchorage and rural communities, and will provide a stipend of $100 to each student. Students will need to pay for their airfare from Washington State to Anchorage. Please contact Nori Pearson (nori@wsu.edu) if you are interested.
