Online Materials
The following short list incorporates those journals that are especially helpful
for studying American literature from 1820-1900. When Foley Center has the journal,
holdings information has been included. You can order articles from journals
not held at Foley through Interlibrary
Loan (ILL).
Some of the following sources include the full text of many articles from journals.
Before you look at all the articles, check American Literary Scholarship to get an idea of what's most valuable and what the articles are about. ALS publishes bibliographic reviews of the year's work in American literature. PS3.A47
Also, Foley has a few years' worth of holdings of many journals, usually from the 1970s. These will show up in FirstSearch and WorldCat as journals we own, but they are not available at the library; you'll need to order them through ILL. Check the local catalogue or the list below to see what is really available.
