4. The Vedas are the oldest and most sacred of the writings of Hinduism. The word, "OM," is considered the most sacred and magical terms in Hinduism; it is the symbol and word for Brahman, the Infinite Spirit, and underlies all of reality. In the Upanishads, "OM" is the source of all the universe and the means by which one attains to Brahman.
