England's Parnassus


Englands Parnassus: or The choysest Flowers of our Moderne Poets, with their Poeticall comparisons is a dictionary of quotations organized under such topic headings as Ambition, Avarice, Apollo, Byrds, Cupid, Ceremony, Death, Eden, Old Age, etc. Represented are bits from Spenser, Daniel, Drayton, Sidney, Jonson, plus many lesser-knowns.

Other works of this type include The Phoenix Nest (1593), Wits Commonwealth (1597), Wits Theater of the Little World, and Belvedere (single lines and couplets).
