1997 Toyota Tacoma
Ahh, my first love, err...... truck. Got this one used when I was living in Virginia Beach. As it was my first Tacoma, I cut my teeth on a few things.
Specs:
- 1997 Toyota Tacoma SR5 4x4 V6
- Downey / K&N Intake, Flowmaster 50 Delta
- 2.5" Cornfed Suspension lift in front, ProComp AAL and Downey HD shackles in the rear
- 3" Performance Accessories body lift
- 33x12.5" Goodyear MT/R's on black Rockcrawler rims
- Tunes: Stock
- Radio Shack CB
- Crappy fog lights I got cheap.
Things I learned: This was a great truck, I drove it from Virginia Beach, VA to Pullman, WA when I got out of the Navy. Pros: Solid truck, I beat the hell out of it. Cornfed (David Kronberg) makes a great lift kit for the Tacoma, but I wanted something better for my 2nd truck. Cons: The rims did not have enough backspacing, so I put in wheel spacers from my local auto parts store. One of them cracked while wheeling, luckily nothing came of it. The Flowmaster 50 Delta was WAY too quite for me. I put too many holes in the dash trying to mount stuff.
Moral of the story: Ask around for what works, be patient, spend a little more for better parts and accessories, and be patient!
