Current Position

I'm currently an Associate Professor of ESL and Technology and Coordinator of the ESL Program at Washington State University in Pullman. My areas of specialization are computer-assisted language learning (CALL), teacher education, and ESL methods. I'm very interested in both student engagement and differentiation of instruction as topics of investigation.

Recent Activities

In 2004 the Training for All Teachers grant project, funded by the US Department of Education, was completed. My great team created an entire ESL endorsement on line that consisted of 6 courses. Thirty teachers from around Washington State participated in the initial offerings, and the courses have been revised and edited several times. We're ready to offer the courses across the nation for teachers who need just one or who want to earn the whole endorsement.

I recently travelled to Turkey to present a week of CALL seminars. Those slides will be up soon.

This Web page is my first experience with Dreamweaver, and it's making FrontPage look better to me all the time!

Our search for a new ESL faculty member last year resulted in the hiring of Tom Salsbury. We couldn't have made a better choice!
