multimedia authoring: exploring the new rhetorics
engl 355 fall 2006
mock professional website

Introduction
This three-part, collaborative team project will conclude in the construction of a 3-5 page web site that serves a professional, rather than a personal purpose. The first two parts of this project include the completion of a Site Proposal and a Storyboard. The project your team works on can range from a mock business site to a site that promotes some actual group or cause. Each project must be approved by the teacher. All parts of this assignment must be collaboratively created. The grade for this project will be a team grade. The Site Proposal and Storyboard are due on Nov. 28. The due date/presentation date for the entire Professional Web Project are Dec. 5 and 7.

Overview
Before starting to put this project on the WWW, your team must write a site proposal and create a detailed storyboard for the project. Once these steps have been taken, you will create a group space on the WWW for each project so you can work on web design and content collaboratively. Although you may try out different web designs and possibilities, you should not begin serious construction of the site until the proposal and storyboard are completed and approved.

Link to previous projects completed for this assignment. Most of these sites were composed before 355 had a strong focus on pushing the envelope and trying to implement ideas about layout, font, graphics, and the like to the edge. Your group will have to decide how far it can push in the website you design. You will have to consider the audience and the purpose carefully. A couple of the examples below are very basic and would probably earn the group a "C" grade (at best). Others are better, but they are all more conventional than the work you've been doing this semester.
