Under Construction 4,308 MW
Estimates of the construction interval for a new Combined Cycle (CC) unit range from 12 to 24 months.

For example, my interviews of utility officials in 1998 indicated a one year lead time for construction.

More recent information suggests the interval is longer. For example, several power company offcials intervied for the San Francisco Chronicle (1-30-01) estimated the construction interval at two years.

A two year interval is also estimated in a recent EPRI Technical Report on the "Prospects for Boom/Bust in the US Electric Power Industry."
