Chapter 20. Air Pollution, Cleaner Vehicles and Feebates

This chapter presents the first of two highly interactive models to be used by students in interactive experimentation. This chapter deals with urban air pollution; the next chapter deals with global climate control. Both make use of a special type of model called a "management flight simulator."

A management flight simulator is a model designed to promote learning through interactive experimentation. You've heard of a pilot flight simulator, an electro-mechanical model of an airplane. The model is a simplified representation of the airplane equipped with a sophisticated interface to resemble the cockpit. Pilots experiment with the simulated airplane to improve their flying instincts. A management flight simulator has a similar purpose. It's designed to help managers improve their business instincts.
