Chapter 4 Mono Lake Exercises -- Word of Caution


  The book contains six exercises with the Mono Lake model and a 7th exercise that involves a combination of the Mono Lake Model and the Brine Shrimp Model.

The exercises begin with a verification that the Mono Lake model in Figure 4.12 generates the results shown in Figure 4.13.

When you take on this exercise, be aware of the typographical error in evaporation multiplier values in Table 4.2. If you enter the values in Table 4.2 using Stella's "Become Graph" feature, you'll probably notice the peculiar shape of the graph when the specific gravity reaches 1.20. That's because the value of 0.883 is a typo. The correct value (as shown in the equation on page 48) is 0.833.
